Dr. Rabia Awan was born and raised in Miami, Florida and is the eldest of three siblings. She is of Pakistani descent & is fluent in Urdu/Hindi.

Growing up Rabia had an early interest in being a doctor. After she graduated high school, she researched all the various types of doctors and narrowed it down to becoming an Optometrist. She was inspired by her own eye doctor who made a big difference in her eyesight when she received her first set of eyeglasses. She completed her undergraduate degree with a major in Biology at Florida Atlantic University.

She decided to go to Optometry school at Nova Southeastern University and graduated in 2007. After practicing optometry in South FL for a little over 2 years, she got married and moved to Chicago.

She has been practicing in Chicago since 2010. She initially started working at Lens Crafters. Though she was happy with her job, she didn’t feel like she was getting enough exposure. Therefore, she decided to work simultaneously at Walmart Optical & Elk Grove Optical. She specializes in ocular disease treatment, contact lens fittings, and pre & post-op for cataract surgery.

When not working, Rabia enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two girls.
